About us
President's Message

Our vision and journey to create a regional not-for-profit opportunity for local female talent to play at the highest level started four years ago. With the intensely competitive hockey in the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL), we have achieved just that.
On September 27 2008, Kitchener-Waterloo made history with the K-W Ranger Jr. women’s hockey club’s inaugural season. Aside from this being our inaugural season and the many first year on-ice successes, we are most proud of the nine graduating players on scholarship to Canadian and American universities and colleges! Quite an accomplishment for any team, let alone one in its start up year!
The team also contributed to the community through fundraising for Canadian Breast Cancer, Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region, Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest and the Waterloo Ravens Annual Year-End Celebration. It was truly a significant first year for the team.
We must mention our team sponsoring partners, without whom we would not have enjoyed the success we did - the Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey Association, the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association and our naming sponsoring partnership, the OHL Kitchener Rangers. To all other sponsors who contributed financially towards the K-W Rangers, thank you very much!
The K-W Rangers have a clear mandate at hand to:
- Develop the best women’s hockey program in the PWHL
- Develop and prepare the players for their next level of play
- Have an emphasis on educational development
- Create community partnership and involvement
- Have a focused perspective on "For the Kids, For the Game and For the Fun."
The K-W Rangers are utilizing the “Player First philosophy,” developed by the Kitchener Rangers, as part of our overall mandate. We are striving to create a program that will allow local hockey players an opportunity to play hockey at an elite level for females in our own community.
This mandate is the foundation on which this hockey program is built. It will never be changed or compromised, now or in the future, as it represents the core of why this unique hockey program was created from its inception.
